K-Fastigheter supports Dandelion – a project for dandelion children in South Africa

We support the Dandelion project, which is a project to support orphaned and vulnerable children in South Africa. Dandelion is a partner organization of Star for Life.

Since Dandelion started in February 2020, K-Fastigheter has been involved in the organization in various ways. In the first stage, it was about training children in gardening to become self-sufficient. In the next stage, the project “Garden and Chicken Race” was started, which included 40 families consisting of one or more children, getting access to two hens, a rooster and two chickens, a project K-Fastigheter was the main financier for. During the pandemic, when the schools were closed, it was thus possible to ensure the only meal of the day that the children would otherwise have been offered during school hours.

We are humbled and grateful to be able to announce a continued collaboration with Dandelion also in 2022.

“K-Fastigheter’s involvement in the project “Garden and Chicken Race” could not have had a better timing precisely because in connection with the first harvest, there was a lock down in the schools, which greatly affected the food supply for the families in the area. Thanks to their own crops and the rooster, the hens and all the chickens that the families had, they were able to ensure that the children had food to eat. We are very happy that K-Fastigheter wants to continue collaborating with us and, just like us, sees a long-term perspective in the work with Dandelion,” says Kjell Jakobsson, founder together with his wife Karin and son Rasmus.

The next big investment is to involve the schools further. Due to major concerns with drought in these areas, increased knowledge about cultivation is needed where project managers must be appointed to support. Four schools will also have demonstration gardens available for long-term knowledge exchange and a greater dissemination.
